Yesterday was day one of our coop building adventure. First we hit our local lumber yard to order the lumber and have it delivered. The total cost for materials was $673. It was a little high because we decided to go with T-111 siding for the coop versus plain plywood siding.
Next we surveyed and cleared the site. Our yard is sloped, so we will have to build up the back side of the foundation
In the photo above you can see the survey lines on the south facing side (the front) of the footprint are very close to the ground compared to the rear wall. The ground didn’t look that sloped, but it is!
We are using pea gravel and pier blocks for the foundation and will build up the back side with additional blocks to bring it level.
